Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of LitArchive ("LitArchive," "Platform," "we," "us," or "our"), including all content, features, and services provided through the website and related products.
By creating an account or using LitArchive, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 14 years old to use LitArchive.
If you are under 18, you confirm that you have obtained consent from a parent or legal guardian.
2. Accounts & Security
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
- All activity that occurs under your account
You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it updated.
LitArchive may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or applicable law.
3. Content & Intellectual Property
3.1 Author Content
Authors may publish:
- Original literary works
- Fan-created works (fanfiction)
Authors retain full ownership and copyright of their content.
By publishing content on LitArchive, you grant LitArchive a non-exclusive, limited, revocable license to host, display, distribute, and promote your content solely within the LitArchive platform for operational and marketing purposes. Your right to publish the same work on platforms other than LitArchive is governed by Section 3.3 (Cross-Platform Publishing).
This license does not transfer ownership and ends when content is removed, except where continued storage is required for legal or accounting purposes.
3.2 Fanfiction Policy
Fan-created works:
- May be published on the platform
- Are not eligible for paid chapter monetization
LitArchive does not claim ownership of fan-created works and is not responsible for third-party IP disputes related to such content.
3.3 Cross-Platform Publishing
This Section 3.3 governs an author's right to publish the same work on platforms other than LitArchive. It applies to all original works published on LitArchive on or after the policy effective date, 2026-05-09. Original works published on LitArchive before that date remain governed by the exclusivity rules in effect at the time of submission.
For purposes of this Section, the $100 Net Threshold for a given book equals the sum of the author's 50% share of paid-chapter revenue earned by that book on LitArchive, calculated lifetime per book and net of payment processor fees. Donations, tips, and earnings from other books do not count toward the Threshold.
Below the Threshold. While a book has earned less than $100 Net to its author, the author may publish the same work on any other platform without notice to LitArchive. No backlink, declaration, or registration is required.
At and Above the Threshold. Once a book has crossed the $100 Net Threshold, the author agrees that:
- New chapters and updates of that book will be published on LitArchive only;
- The author will not create new listings of the book on competing web-text platforms, including but not limited to Wattpad, RoyalRoad, ScribbleHub, Webnovel, Tapas, AO3, personal blogs, and similar serialized-text platforms;
- External listings created before the Threshold was reached remain permitted; the author is not required to remove or modify them.
Adaptations and Trade Publishing. Print, ebook, audiobook, translation, comic, and screen adaptation deals for a LitArchive book are permitted at any time, including after the Threshold. The author agrees to notify LitArchive in writing within thirty (30) days of signing any such deal. LitArchive is entitled to a declining share of the author's net proceeds from each such deal:
- 10% for the first 12 months following deal execution;
- 6% for months 13–24;
- 3% for months 25–36;
- 0% from month 37 onward.
Donations, tips, and on-platform earnings on LitArchive are not affected by this schedule.
Compliance and Remedies. The author warrants that notifications under this Section are accurate and complete. LitArchive may, on reasonable cause, request supporting documentation of declared deals. Material breach of this Section is grounds for the remedies in Section 7, including suspension of monetization on the affected book. LitArchive does not retroactively claim earnings from undeclared external deals.
