Scene: Late Evening – Hong's Apartment

The lights in Hong's apartment are dim and golden, casting a warm glow over the living room. A gentle acoustic playlist hums from the speaker, barely loud enough to compete with the rustling of snack wrappers and the soft clink of iced tea in a glass.

Lego is curled up on one end of the couch, barefoot, wearing a soft oversized hoodie. His phone lights up in his hand. One look at the screen makes his mouth twitch into a smile.

"Is it him?" Hong asks without looking up from the magazine spread across his lap.

Lego nods, trying to suppress the grin but failing. "Diamond."

Hong smiles. "Of course it is."

"He wants to go out," Lego says, voice quiet but full of something light. "Just... a little walk. Maybe ice cream."

"At this hour?" Hong finally looks over at him, raising an eyebrow. "It's almost midnight."

"I know," Lego says, already pulling his legs in to sit up straighter. "But I want to go."

There's no hesitation. No fluster. Just the kind of smile that comes from being sure — of himself, of Diamond, of the way they fit into each other's lives.

Hong watches him for a moment, then shrugs. "He's your boyfriend. Midnight ice cream is romantic, I guess."

"It's kind of his thing," Lego says, grabbing his cap from the coffee table. "Showing up out of nowhere. Making something small feel big."

Hong laughs. "You're so gone for him."

Lego doesn't deny it. "He said he just wants to see me for a bit. I think he had a long day."

Hong waves a lazy hand. "Go. But don't come crying to me when the ice cream shop is closed and you end up sharing a cigarette under a streetlight instead."

Lego chuckles, standing. "That's kind of romantic too."

He grabs his keys and heads for the door. Before leaving, he pauses, glancing back at Hong.

"Thanks for letting me hang out here all the time," he says, suddenly sincere.

"Just go already," Hong replies, but he's smiling too. "And tell him to wear something warm for once."

Lego disappears into the night, phone in hand, a little bounce in his step.

Scene: Midnight – Quiet City Street

The city has quieted down. The streetlights glow amber against the pavement, and the air is cooler now, touched by the breeze left behind by a long summer day.

Diamond stands leaning against a lamppost near the corner of Lego’s building, hood up, cigarette tucked behind his ear but unlit. He’s wearing a black windbreaker and dark jeans, the kind of outfit that makes him look like a little piece of a music video himself — too cinematic for a silent street.

When he sees Lego crossing toward him, Diamond’s whole face softens. He straightens, hands slipping into his pockets.

“You came,” he says.

“You asked,” Lego replies, stepping close.

They start walking without needing to say much else. Their fingers brush once, then again — and by the third time, Diamond quietly reaches down and laces their hands together.

There’s no one around to see. Just a cat slinking under a parked car, the buzz of a flickering neon sign from a nearby 24-hour noodle shop, the quiet rhythm of their footsteps on the sidewalk.

“You okay?” Lego asks softly.

Diamond doesn’t answer right away. He just walks a few more steps, then finally breathes out. “Tired. But I didn’t want to go to bed with all this stuff still in my head.”

Lego squeezes his hand. “Want to talk about it?”

Diamond shakes his head. “No. Just wanted to see you. That’s enough.”

Lego doesn’t press. That’s something he’s learned with Diamond — not everything needs to be spoken right away. Some things just need space.

They reach a small convenience store, its windows glowing soft blue in the night. Diamond nods toward it. “Wanna split a terrible ice cream sandwich?”

Lego laughs. “Only if it’s neon-colored and makes my tongue blue.”

“Done.”

They sit on the curb just outside, two melting ice cream sandwiches between them, cold against the warm night. Diamond finally lights his cigarette, but doesn’t inhale deeply — just lets it sit between his fingers while he leans back against the brick wall.

“You’re the best part of my day,” he says suddenly.

Lego turns to look at him, a little caught off guard.

Diamond shrugs, blowing smoke upward. “Even when I’ve got a stadium screaming my name. Even when I’m winning. I still look forward to this.”

Lego doesn’t know what to say at first. So he leans into Diamond instead, resting his head against his shoulder.

They stay like that for a long moment — ice cream mostly forgotten, the city humming around them.

“You make everything feel softer,” Diamond murmurs.

“And you make everything feel real,” Lego replies quietly.

Their fingers stay entwined. The night goes on, slow and kind, and for just this moment, nothing else matters but the space between them — and the quiet promise they keep showing up to make, again and again.

Scene: After Midnight – In Diamond’s Car

The roads are mostly empty now. The city is winding down, lights dimming one by one behind curtained windows and shuttered shops. Diamond’s car hums low as it glides through the sleeping streets, soft music playing beneath the quiet between them — something jazzy, unfamiliar, but smooth.

Lego sits in the passenger seat, hoodie sleeves pulled over his hands, head leaned back against the window. He’s watching the city blur past in hazy streaks of gold and silver.

Diamond has one hand on the steering wheel, the other resting lightly on Lego’s thigh.

It’s not the first time — he’s done this before. But tonight, there’s something different in the way his fingers move. Slower. More present. Not just a casual touch, but a lingering one. His thumb draws soft, steady circles just above Lego’s knee.

Lego glances over, eyes catching the way Diamond is biting the inside of his cheek, his gaze fixed on the road but his mind clearly somewhere else.

“Eyes on the road,” Lego says softly, a half-smile curling at his lips.

Diamond huffs a quiet laugh but doesn’t move his hand. If anything, his touch slides just slightly higher.

“I am,” Diamond murmurs. “But you’re making it really hard.”

Lego shifts a little in his seat, not to pull away — but to lean into the touch. There’s a slow warmth blooming under his skin. The kind that isn’t urgent, but undeniable.

“You called me out in the middle of the night for this,” Lego teases gently, turning his body toward Diamond just a bit. “Ice cream and flirty driving?”

Diamond finally looks at him, briefly. The streetlights flash over his face, sharpening his jaw, softening his eyes.

“No,” he says, more serious now. “I called you because I missed you. But now I also want to touch you.”

His thumb presses just a little more firmly into Lego’s thigh, then slides back again in a slow stroke.

Lego looks out the window, suddenly a little shy — but he doesn’t stop smiling. “You’re being distracting.”

“I’m being honest,” Diamond replies.

The song changes. A slower rhythm now. As if the car itself is responding to the atmosphere thickening around them.

Diamond’s hand slips just under the hem of Lego’s shorts now, palm warm against his bare skin. Not hurried. Not demanding. Just there. Present. Desiring.

Lego exhales, barely audible. “You’re getting bold.”

“I’m in love,” Diamond says, like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “I want you. Every hour of the day.”

There’s no tension between them — just a growing closeness, a charge in the air that makes the silence feel golden.

As they turn onto Diamond’s street, the city grows quiet again. The headlights catch the edge of the curb, the familiar red door of Diamond’s building. He parks slowly, then finally takes his hand back — just long enough to kill the engine.

Before either of them moves, Diamond turns in his seat and looks at Lego fully.

“We don’t have to do anything tonight,” he says gently. “But I wanted you close. That’s all.”

Lego leans over, resting his forehead against Diamond’s.

“I’m here,” he whispers. “And I don’t want to leave.”

Diamond closes his eyes. His hand returns — this time to Lego’s face, his touch soft and reverent.

Then, without rushing, they both open their doors and step out — into the still night, into whatever comes next.
