The office exploded into motion the moment they entered.

Managers called names. Stylists tugged at sleeves. Someone mentioned contracts. Someone else mentioned deadlines. The word experiment floated through the air — a new concept, a new image, something darker.

“Rehearsal room, ten minutes,” a staff member called.

Jun nodded automatically, already moving toward the studio. Dylan followed, too close, their shoulders nearly brushing. Jun felt it — the heat, the unspoken question — and moved faster.

In the rehearsal room, mirrors lined the walls like witnesses. Music pulsed low, waiting. Nano dropped his bag and stretched dramatically. Pepper leaned against the wall, typing fast, smiling less now. Thame stood near the speakers, eyes flicking to the door.

Po slipped in last, camera lifted again.

He filmed Jun tying his shoelaces, fingers trembling just enough to be noticeable. He filmed Dylan rolling his shoulders, gaze locked on Jun’s reflection. He filmed Nano dancing even before the music started. He filmed Pepper laughing when his phone buzzed — then stopping abruptly when it didn’t buzz again.

He filmed Thame watching him.

Their eyes met through the lens.

Po lowered the camera slightly. “Sorry,” he said, breathless. “I— I just want everything.”

Thame’s smile was slow, unreadable. “You already have it.”

Jun heard that.

Something twisted in his chest — sharp, humiliating. He turned away, forcing himself to focus as the music finally started. Their bodies moved together, precise and practiced, but the air between them felt different now. Heavier. Like something had shifted without permission.

In another room, contracts were spread across a long table. Dylan skimmed his without reading, attention drifting back to the glass wall separating them from the rehearsal room. Jun’s reflection caught his eye again. Always Jun.

Pepper signed quickly, phone buzzing once more. He smiled — then frowned. His fingers hesitated over the screen before he locked it and slid it into his pocket.

Po wandered between rooms, filming hands, shadows, the way Thame’s pen paused mid-signature when Po leaned too close. The camera caught Thame’s knuckles whitening.

“You don’t have to film this part,” Thame murmured.

Po smiled faintly. “This is the part I don’t want to forget.

Their shoulders brushed.

In the rehearsal room, the music cut abruptly.

Jun missed a step.

It was small. Almost nothing. But Dylan noticed. Thame noticed. Po’s camera caught it — the exact moment Jun’s eyes flicked to Po and Thame standing too close together on the other side of the glass.

The room went quiet.

“Again,” the choreographer said sharply.

Jun nodded, face burning, heart racing. Dylan stepped closer this time, voice low. “You okay?”

Jun didn’t answer.

Across the glass, Po lifted the camera again — and this time, Thame reached out and gently pushed it down.

The gesture was intimate. Protective.

Jun saw it.

The music restarted.

The camera stopped recording.

And somewhere between the beat and the silence that followed, something finally cracked — though no one yet knew what it was, or how badly it would bleed.
