Chapter · 01

Description
A man named Montresor carries a quiet grievance that has festered for years, until it hardens into a single, carefully planned act of revenge. During carnival season, he encounters Fortunato - a proud wine connoisseur - and lures him away from the festive crowds with the promise of a rare Amontillado. What begins as a harmless curiosity turns into a descent into the damp catacombs beneath Montresor’s palazzo. As the tunnels grow colder and deeper, trust gives way to unease, and unease to dread. Poe constructs a chilling study of manipulation, pride, and calculated cruelty, where the greatest horror is not violence itself, but the calm certainty behind it.
