Back then, we did not understand that in times like these we needed to stick together, and we let go too far of the one who was closest to us.

A terrible disease struck the world. The virus exists in the bodies of all people. The problem is that no one knows exactly when it will awaken in a particular person. A day before death, the victim feels weakness; then a severe headache begins, and the person dies.

Chapter 1

Let’s always be together

Park

Morio: Tell me honestly, are you really going to school? Why do we even need to go there? It’s booooring! Boring, boring, boring! I don’t want to!

Kiyoshi: If we don’t go, it’ll be total chaos.

Morio: God. The end of the world is about to come anyway, and you’re still the same. Let’s go to the river instead.

Kiyoshi: If you want, go. I’m going to school.

Ami is sitting on the floor, quietly crying.

Kiyoshi spends the whole day at home, gloomy and depressed.

After school, Morio spends the entire day near Ami’s house.

Night. Kiyoshi’s House

Someone throws a stone at Kiyoshi’s window. Barely getting out of bed, blinking his swollen eyes, he looks out the window and sees Morio standing below.

Kiyoshi: Are you crazy? Don’t you have anything better to do?

Morio: Let’s go look at the stars.

Kiyoshi: What? Why? Why so suddenly?

Morio: I don’t know… (laughs) What if this is the last day we can look at them?

Kiyoshi: What nonsense are you talking about now?

Because of the densely planted trees, the huge park at night looks almost like a forest. There’s no one around. Just two boys lying on the grass, looking at the stars.
