The room was quiet, painted in the blue of early evening. Outside, the city rustled gently — horns in the distance, a dog barking, a soft wind brushing against the glass — but inside, all of it faded behind the soft hum of the ceiling fan and the faint drip of water still falling in the bathroom sink.

Nut sat cross-legged on their shared bed, flipping idly through his phone, though his mind was elsewhere. His shirt was rumpled. One of his socks was missing. He didn’t even notice. His ears were tuned to the sound of running water having stopped minutes ago, of feet padding across the wet tile, of a door creaking open.

Then — Hong stepped out.

Fresh from the shower, he was wrapped in nothing but a towel that clung low on his hips, his damp gray hair tousled, catching the dying light from the window. Droplets slid down his chest, lingering in the lines of his collarbones, and further down the soft slope of his waist. His skin was still flushed from the heat, pale and glowing like he’d just been born from sunlight itself.

He didn’t say a word. Just looked at Nut with that sleepy, absentminded gaze — the kind he wore when he wasn’t trying to be beautiful, and that made him achingly beautiful.

And then — Hong climbed into bed, turned toward the fan, and let the towel fall just a little lower as he lay down on his side, propped against one arm, his waist partly exposed. Unbothered. Unaware. Or maybe he knew exactly what he was doing.

Nut froze.

His heart slammed once in his chest, and then again, louder. Hong’s body curved like soft poetry, like something unspoken but deeply felt. That part of his waist — the little dip above the hip bone — was glowing faintly in the half-light, catching gold from the window. It wasn’t just his body. It was him. Hong. That softness. That comfort in his own skin. That lack of effort that somehow turned everything into art.

Nut didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

“Don’t look at me like that,” Hong murmured, not opening his eyes.

But Nut couldn’t help it. The ache in his chest was too full. He felt like he was witnessing a moment that shouldn't be his — something so pure and undone that he didn’t want to move in case it disappeared.

Without thinking, he reached for his phone again.

“I want to take a picture,” he whispered.

Hong blinked open one eye, lips quirking lazily. “You’re such a perv.”

“I don’t mean it like that,” Nut said softly, and he didn’t. It wasn’t lust — at least not only lust — it was awe. It was reverence. It was the moment you see someone you’ve loved for so long and realize, somehow, you still haven’t gotten used to how breathtaking they are. That someone can live inside your world and still look like a dream from outside it.

“I want to remember you like this,” Nut whispered. “Like a painting. Like something soft and real.”

Hong’s smirk faded, replaced by something gentler. His eyes studied Nut for a beat longer — slow, thoughtfu l— before he nodded once and turned his head toward the window again, offering his profile, his waist still bare, his expression unreadable but full of trust.

Nut didn’t even lift the phone right away. He just sat there for a moment longer, memorizing it all. The curve of Hong’s spine. The quiet rise and fall of his breath. The way the breeze moved through his hair like fingers. The way he was both boy and moonlight. Lover and silence.

And then Nut took the photo — not just with his phone, but with every part of his heart.

He would save it. Not for others, not to show off. But for himself. For the quiet nights when doubt crept in, when the world felt too far or too loud. He’d open it, look at it, and remember:

This is what love looks like. This is what mine looks like.

And in that moment, he didn’t say “I love you.” He didn’t need to.

Hong already knew.
