Chapter 6
What Survives
Time didn’t heal me. It just taught me how to carry the weight without collapsing every step. I learned how to speak his name without my voice breaking — most of the time.
I still hear him in music, in laughter that sounds too familiar, in moments when the world feels too loud. I still remember the way he looked at me when he thought no one else was watching — unguarded, real, alive.
He died. That truth will never change.
But neither will this one: he mattered beyond the lights, beyond the applause, beyond the love that came too late.
And when I whisper back into the silence now, I say it clearly, firmly, with everything I have left:
They were wrong.
I loved you.
