Chapter 3 β€” (Something Different)

Saturday β€” 4:10 p.m.

The five friends met again after school.

Miho arrived first with Me-yongi.

β€œWhere is everyone?”

Me-yongi looked around.

β€œMaybe we're early.”

Miho smiled.

β€œOr they're late.”

A voice came from behind them.

β€œI'm not late.”

They turned.

Han-seok was walking toward them, hands in his pockets, looking completely relaxed.

Miho crossed her arms.

β€œYou're three minutes late.”

Han-seok smirked.

β€œAnd you counted?”

β€œObviously.”

β€œCute.”

Miho rolled her eyes.

β€œDon't flirt with me.”

β€œWho said I was flirting?”

Me-yongi giggled.

Soo-ah and Seo-jun finally arrived.

Soo-ah was carrying two bags.

β€œSorry! I got snacks.”

Han-seok immediately took one.

β€œGood girl.”

Soo-ah slapped his hand away.

β€œThat's mine!”

Everyone laughed.

They spent the afternoon walking around the city, joking and teasing each other.

But Seo-jun seemed quieter than usual.

Soo-ah noticed.

β€œYou okay?”

β€œYeah.”

β€œYou've been quiet.”

Seo-jun looked at her.

β€œJust thinking.”

β€œAbout what?”

He smiled slightly.

β€œSomething important.”

Soo-ah raised an eyebrow.

β€œThat sounds suspicious.”

β€œYou'll find out.”

She stared at him.

β€œNow I'm curious.”

β€œGood.”

Later, they stopped beside the river.

Miho and Me-yongi were taking pictures while Han-seok tried to annoy them.

Soo-ah stood near the railing.

Seo-jun walked over.

β€œYou're having fun?”

β€œObviously.”

β€œGood.”

She looked at him.

β€œWhy do you keep smiling like that?”

β€œLike what?”

β€œLike you know something I don't.”

Seo-jun laughed softly.

β€œMaybe I do.”

Soo-ah narrowed her eyes.

β€œTell me.”

β€œNot yet.”

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small wrapped box.

Soo-ah stared at it.

β€œWhat is that?”

β€œSomething for you.”

β€œFor me?”

He nodded.

She opened it.

Inside was a small silver bracelet.

Soo-ah looked surprised.

β€œSeo-jun…”

β€œI saw it yesterday.”

He paused.

β€œAnd it reminded me of you.”

Soo-ah smiled.

β€œYou're weird.”

β€œProbably.”

She looked at the bracelet again.

β€œThank you.”

Seo-jun smiled.

β€œKeep it.”

From a distance, Miho watched them.

She whispered to Me-yongi,

β€œSomething is definitely going on.”

Me-yongi smiled.

β€œI think so too.”

Han-seok glanced at Seo-jun and smirked.

β€œFinally.”

Soo-ah looked over.

β€œWhat?”

β€œNothing.”

Seo-jun simply smiled.

But there was something behind that smile.

Something he wasn't ready to say yet.

To be continued…
