Chapter 9
Chapter 9
The Red Notebook β Episode 9: (The Mrs.Han Case)
Yuri couldn't stop thinking about the sentence in the notebook.
β8:40 PM β ASK WHY HE WAS THERE.β
She needed answers.
And this time, she wasn't going to wait.
That evening, she waited until her parents were both in the living room.
Yuri walked in and sat across from them.
βTell me about Mrs. Han.β
Her father looked up.
βYuriβ¦β
Her parents exchanged a quick glance.
Her mother looked away.
Her father stayed silent.
Yuri's voice became firmer.
βYou know her, don't you?β
Her father's expression changed.
βWhy are you asking about her?β
βJust answer me.β
He sighed.
βYes. I know Mrs. Han.β
Yuri leaned forward.
βHow?β
Her father hesitated.
βShe was my client.β
Yuri's eyes widened.
βYour client?β
He nodded.
βYears ago.β
βWhat was the Han case about?β
Her father looked down.
βMrs. Han was accused of something she didn't do.β
Yuri frowned.
βSo she was innocent?β
βYes.β
βThen why was there a case against her?β
Her father remained silent for a moment.
βSomeone wanted to punish her.β
βFor what?β
Her mother quietly answered,
βShe refused to do what they wanted.β
Yuri's eyes narrowed.
βWho?β
Neither of them answered.
Her father stood up.
βThat is enough, Yuri.β
βNo.β Yuri stood too. βYou were her lawyer. You investigated the case. And you were with her in Room 214.β
Her father's face went pale.
βWhere did you hear about Room 214?β
Yuri held his gaze.
βSo you remember.β
Silence.
Finally, her father said,
βMrs. Han and I discovered something important during the investigation.β
βWhat?β
βWe found proof that the case against her wasn't what it seemed.β
Yuri waited.
βAnd Room 214?β
Her father looked toward the window.
βThat was where Mrs. Han and I met to discuss what we'd found.β
βAt 8:40?β
He didn't answer.
Yuri's eyes narrowed.
βWhat happened at 8:40?β
Her father finally looked at her.
βThat is the part you should leave alone.β
Yuri stared at him.
βWhy?β
βBecause after that night, everything changed.β
Before Yuri could ask another question, her mother quietly said,
βYour father quit the case.β
Yuri turned toward her.
βWhy?β
Her mother didn't answer.
Yuri picked up her bag and walked toward the stairs.
Her phone buzzed.
Unknown Number.
βNow you know what the Han case was.β
Yuri stopped.
Another message appeared.
βBut you still don't know what happened at 8:40.β
Yuri stared at the screen.
Then a final message arrived.
βAsk your father what he saw when the door opened.β
Yuri's expression changed.
The door opened?
She looked back toward her parents.
Her father was watching her.
And for the first time, Yuri realizedβ
he wasn't afraid of the case.
He was afraid of what happened that night.
To be continuedβ¦
