Chapter 2
Learning Each Other’s Silence
Their connection didn’t grow through dramatic conversations or confessions. It grew in pauses. In moments where words felt unnecessary. Jiyon noticed the way Siena folded her hands when she felt overwhelmed. Siena noticed how Jiyon’s gaze softened when he listened.
Sometimes they spoke about simple things: books, music, thoughts that didn’t require courage to share. Other times, they sat together in silence, and neither felt the need to fill it. That was new for Siena. Silence had always made her anxious. With Jiyon, it felt safe.
Jiyon never pushed her to open up. He understood that some doors only open when they are not forced. And slowly, without realizing it, Siena began to stay a little longer, speak a little more honestly.
