Chapter 1 — (The Five Best friends)

8:05 a.m. — Haneul High School

“Me-yongi! Hurry up!”

Miho was standing outside the school gate, checking the time.

Me-yongi finally ran toward her.

“I'm here!”

“You're ten minutes late.”

“Only ten.”

“That's not helping.”

Me-yongi laughed and grabbed Miho's arm.

“Come on, bestie. Before you start giving me a lecture.”

“You're lucky you're my best friend.”

“I know.”

They entered the school together.

Inside Class 2-B, Han-seok was already sitting in their usual place.

He looked at Miho.

“Late again?”

Miho dropped her bag.

“Don't start.”

“I didn't say anything.”

“Your face did.”

Han-seok laughed.

Soo-ah turned around from her desk.

“You two are fighting before the first class even starts?”

“He started it,” Miho said.

“I literally just asked a question,” Han-seok replied.

Seo-jun sighed.

“Every morning. Same story.”

Me-yongi laughed.

“Let them be.”

Miho suddenly looked at Me-yongi.

“Wait. You're taking my side, right?”

“Obviously.”

Han-seok shook his head.

“Of course. Best friends.”

Me-yongi smiled and linked her arm with Miho's.

“Always.”

At lunch, Soo-ah suddenly announced,

“I have an idea.”

Everyone looked at her.

“We should all go somewhere after school.”

Miho's eyes lit up.

“Yes!”

Han-seok immediately said, “No.”

Miho turned toward him.

“Why?”

“Because whenever you say 'yes,' something goes wrong.”

“That happened once!”

“Three times.”

“Twice.”

“Four.”

Soo-ah started laughing.

Seo-jun smiled.

“Let's just go before they start counting.”

Me-yongi looked at everyone.

“Where are we going?”

Miho grinned.

“That's the surprise.”

Me-yongi smiled.

“Fine. I'm in.”

The five friends laughed together.

For them, it was just another ordinary day.

But none of them knew that this friendship would soon be tested in a way none of them could imagine.
