Chapter 8
The Red Notebook — Episode 8: (Don't Ask)
Yuri waited until breakfast.
Her father was sitting at the table while her mother poured tea.
Yuri walked over and placed the old receipt in front of him.
Her father's hand stopped.
He stared at it.
For a moment, his face showed something Yuri had never seen before.
Fear.
“Where did you get this?” he asked.
Yuri crossed her arms.
“That's what I'm asking you.”
Her mother quickly looked at the receipt.
“Yuri, forget about it.”
“Why?”
“Because it's old.”
“Then why are you both acting like it's important?”
Neither of them answered.
Yuri pointed at the name.
“Why was Dad's name on this?”
Her father picked up the receipt.
“You shouldn't have found this.”
Yuri's eyes narrowed.
“So you knew about it.”
He didn't answer.
“Dad.”
“Yuri, drop it.”
“No.”
Her father looked at her seriously.
“It's none of your business.”
Yuri couldn't believe what she was hearing.
“I'm asking about something that happened to my own family.”
Her mother sighed.
“There's no need to tell you everything about our past just to make you scared.”
“Then stop hiding things from me!”
The room went silent.
Yuri grabbed the receipt from the table.
Her father suddenly reached for it.
“Give it back.”
Yuri stepped away.
“No.”
She turned and walked upstairs.
Behind her, she heard her mother whisper,
“She knows too much.”
Yuri stopped.
But before she could turn around, her father said quietly,
“Not yet.”
Yuri's eyes widened.
She continued upstairs without making a sound.
Once inside her room, she locked the door.
She pulled out the red notebook.
The page with 214 was still open.
But something had changed.
Beneath 8:40 PM, a new line had appeared.
“ONE LIE IS NEVER THE ONLY LIE.”
Yuri stared at it.
Then her phone buzzed.
Unknown Number.
“Don't trust everything your parents tell you.”
Yuri quickly typed:
“Who are you?”
The reply came after a few seconds.
“You'll know soon.”
Another message appeared.
“But first, find out what happened to the page before 214.”
Yuri slowly looked back at the notebook.
She turned the pages.
213.
Then—
214.
The page was still there.
Yuri stared at it.
Something was written at the bottom of the page that she hadn't noticed before.
“8:40 PM — ASK WHY HE WAS THERE.”
