Chapter 8
The Red Notebook β Episode 8: (Don't Ask)
Yuri waited until breakfast.
Her father was sitting at the table while her mother poured tea.
Yuri walked over and placed the old receipt in front of him.
Her father's hand stopped.
He stared at it.
For a moment, his face showed something Yuri had never seen before.
Fear.
βWhere did you get this?β he asked.
Yuri crossed her arms.
βThat's what I'm asking you.β
Her mother quickly looked at the receipt.
βYuri, forget about it.β
βWhy?β
βBecause it's old.β
βThen why are you both acting like it's important?β
Neither of them answered.
Yuri pointed at the name.
βWhy was Dad's name on this?β
Her father picked up the receipt.
βYou shouldn't have found this.β
Yuri's eyes narrowed.
βSo you knew about it.β
He didn't answer.
βDad.β
βYuri, drop it.β
βNo.β
Her father looked at her seriously.
βIt's none of your business.β
Yuri couldn't believe what she was hearing.
βI'm asking about something that happened to my own family.β
Her mother sighed.
βThere's no need to tell you everything about our past just to make you scared.β
βThen stop hiding things from me!β
The room went silent.
Yuri grabbed the receipt from the table.
Her father suddenly reached for it.
βGive it back.β
Yuri stepped away.
βNo.β
She turned and walked upstairs.
Behind her, she heard her mother whisper,
βShe knows too much.β
Yuri stopped.
But before she could turn around, her father said quietly,
βNot yet.β
Yuri's eyes widened.
She continued upstairs without making a sound.
Once inside her room, she locked the door.
She pulled out the red notebook.
The page with 214 was still open.
But something had changed.
Beneath 8:40 PM, a new line had appeared.
βONE LIE IS NEVER THE ONLY LIE.β
Yuri stared at it.
Then her phone buzzed.
Unknown Number.
βDon't trust everything your parents tell you.β
Yuri quickly typed:
βWho are you?β
The reply came after a few seconds.
βYou'll know soon.β
Another message appeared.
βBut first, find out what happened to the page before 214.β
Yuri slowly looked back at the notebook.
She turned the pages.
213.
Thenβ
214.
The page was still there.
Yuri stared at it.
Something was written at the bottom of the page that she hadn't noticed before.
β8:40 PM β ASK WHY HE WAS THERE.β
